Try to answer these questions only from this or previous stories without jumping ahead. Let the story emerge…

Why do you think God stopped the people from building a monument to themselves?

What do we learn about Abraham and Sarah?

What is anything you learned about this couple in the story?

What did God promise to Abraham in making this Covenant?

What does this promise tell us about what God is like?

How does God seem to be changing how he’ll interact with humans?

What do you see changing here that is significant?

God declared Abraham “righteous”. What do you think it means to be righteous?

Was Abraham full of “rightness”? Who declares Abraham righteous? Why? Did he deserve it?

Do you deserve to be declared righteous?

What do we attempt to do at times to appear “righteous”? What do these attempts at righteousness  produce in us?

From the story, what can we do to be declared righteous before God?
